Sierra Madre : Update for Municipal Code
The City Council on Tuesday took the first step toward recodifying the aging Municipal Code by voting to notify bidders who specialize in updating city ordinances.
Recodification is necessary to clarify ambiguities of technical definitions, eliminate loopholes and standardize regulations that have been changed over the years, Mayor George Maurer said.
The Municipal Code was last recodified in the late 1960s, Maurer said.
City Manager James McRea said the cost of updating the Municipal Code could approach $10,000.
