Burrill Helps Lift Anchorage to NBC Series Win

Casey Burrill, a 1989 graduate of Hart High, contributed a two-run single in an eight-run third inning, helping Anchorage, Alaska, rout Clarinda, Iowa, 11-0, Wednesday in a fourth-round game of the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kan.
The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule, leaving Anchorage’s Jim Yanko with a no-hitter, the first in the NBC World Series since 1983.
Burrill, a sophomore-to-be at USC, helped Anchorage reach the fourth round by hitting a two-run home run in a victory Tuesday.
Anchorage (3-1) advances to the fifth round, but Clarinda (2-2) was knocked out of the double-elimination tournament.
