Stores Seek to Delay Deadline: Federated Department Stores Inc. and Allied Stores Corp. said they were asking a federal judge for more time to file a plan for emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge J. Vincent Aug Jr. is to conduct a hearing Sept. 11 on the request to postpone the filing deadline to Feb. 28, 1991. Federated and Allied said the extension would allow them to concentrate on the Christmas retailing season.
