L.A. Team Wins on Stafford’s No-Hitter

Jacque Stafford of Canoga Park pitched a no-hitter to lift Los Angeles to a 10-0 win over Cleveland in the girls’ softball competition in the North American Maccabiah Games in Detroit on Wednesday.
Heide Crocker of West Hills and Laura Vatz each had a pair of hits to support Stafford.
In other action, Chris Sanger of Northridge and Sagy Koren of Granada Hills combined for 41 points to lead Los Angeles to an 84-61 win over Western Connecticut in boys’ basketball.
Thousand Oaks’ Lauren Goldstein had 16 points to lead L.A. over Philadelphia, 52-38, in girls’ basketball.
Neal Effron of Northridge had two goals to lift Los Angeles over Houston, 5-0, in boys’ age 15-16 soccer.
