Beverly Hills : Route 66 Remembered
Camp Beverly Hills, whose shop windows once featured urinals, atomic mushroom clouds and other provocative symbols, is devoting its display space along Santa Monica Boulevard to memorabilia from U.S. Route 66.
The display, which comes at a time of increased nostalgia for the old road, includes photographs of gas stations, cafes and other sights along the highway that terminated at the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica.
“We hope that giving the route this exposure will encourage people to take the trip, to experience a slice of Americana and to appreciate how much Route 66 changed our nation,” said Jeff Stein, president of the clothing firm.
