The Laguna Art Museum will display Jim Morphesis’ “Winged Figure” Sept. 28 through Dec. 16. The Icarus-themed painting of a nude, winged male was to have been reproduced as a commemorative poster for the new terminal at the John Wayne Airport until objections that it was “inappropriate” and bureaucratic snafus squelched the plan. The painting is on short-term loan to the museum, which helped in its initial, ill-fated selection by airport officials.
