Beer Sale Ban at UCLA Games
Congratulations to UCLA and the Rose Bowl for the courage to get rid of beer and in the process the frequent rowdyism that goes with it (“Many Saluted Rose Bowl’s Beer Ban With a Can of Suds,” Part B, Sept. 9).
The Coliseum Commission should take note.
On the other hand, however, those of us in attendance at the UCLA-Oklahoma football game were prevented from bringing into the stadium any kind of thirst-quencher despite the 100-plus heat. Of course they wanted to sell soda at $2.50 per glass, but the availability was inadequate, not to mention the lack of just plain water.
It would seem common-sense concern for the public welfare would dictate provision for access to water at least, and failure to do so should become the concern of public health officials.
Surely this question has been raised before, hasn’t it?
