Chula Vista Boy, 5, Nearly Drowns in Pool

A 5-year-old boy nearly drowned Tuesday in a swimming pool in Chula Vista.
Victor Sandoval of Mendocino Drive in Chula Vista was listed in critical condition on a life support system at Children’s Hospital late Tuesday, hospital spokesman Mark Morelli said.
Victor’s body temperature was below normal, indicating that he probably was under water for at least several minutes, Morelli said.
The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Life Flight took the child to the hospital about 3:20 p.m.
No information was available about how the boy fell into the pool.
