Laguna Beach Volleyball Wins

Laguna Beach High School, the third-ranked girls’ volleyball team in Orange County, defeated fourth-ranked Newport Harbor in four games in a nonleague match Monday at Laguna Beach.

Ashley Wacholder had 25 kills and her younger sister, Rachel, had 14 as the Artists (5-1) won 13-15, 15-5, 15-2, 15-7.

Maureen McLaren had 24 kills for Newport Harbor (6-2).

In another nonleague volleyball match:

Orange Lutheran 3, Southern California Christian 0--Stacie Charlton had eight kills and four aces to lead host Orange Lutheran to a 15-3, 15-5, 15-8 victory.

In nonleague girls’ tennis:

Capistrano Valley 18, Canyon 0--The Cougars (5-1) won each of their sets at Capistrano Valley.

Rosary 11, Fullerton 7--Loraine Lau swept her No. 1 singles matches, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for Fullerton (0-5-1) at Rosary.
