The 50-member University Choir of Cal State Long Beach will join a performance of the “AIDS Requiem” on at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7 at the Hollywood United Methodist Church, Highland and Franklin avenues in Hollywood.
Composed by Don Edick, a returning Cal State Long Beach undergraduate, the Requiem will be performed by five choirs, a full orchestra, hand bells and a harp. The work was first presented in June at the First Congregational Church in Long Beach.
The October date coincides with the national tour of the Names Project/Common Threads, a display of the AIDS quilt that memorializes victims of the disease.
Admission to the concert is free but donations will be accepted at the door.
