American Airlines to Upgrade Fleet: American said it plans to drop British Aerospace 146 jets from its fleet. The carrier, which acquired the 70-passenger jets when it bought AirCal three years ago, said the jets were too small and inefficient to be practical. An American spokesman said the airline would replace the jets with Douglas MD-80s and Fokker F-100s.
