COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cypress Defeats Irvine Valley in Men’s Soccer

George Charlesworth scored twice, including the game-winning goal with 3 minutes left, to lead Cypress College to a 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Irvine Valley in Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer Friday at Irvine Valley.
Cypress (4-2-2, 2-0) took an early lead when Charlesworth scored with 27 minutes left in the first half. Irvine Valley is 7-1-2, 0-1-1.
In other Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Fullerton 2, San Bernardino Valley 0--Ricardo Cunha and Gaspar Gutierrez scored at Fullerton (3-5-1, 1-0-1). Fullerton goalie Mauro Cardoza had one save.
Rancho Santiago 1, Golden West 0--Cody Mabry scored for host Rancho Santiago in the first half. Golden West is 3-5-1, 0-1-1.
Orange Coast 2, Riverside 0--Darin Courter and Andy Strouse scored to lead Orange Coast (4-4-1, 1-0-1) at Riverside (2-4-3, 0-2). Jeff Swanson had 23 saves for Riverside.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:
Mt. San Antonio 1, Orange Coast 1--Cheryl Jessee scored on an assist from Dominique Dalton with about 10 minutes left to give host Orange Coast (4-1-6, 0-1-2) a tie.
Palomar 2, Golden West 0--Sarah Case and Karmyn Clark scored for visiting Palomar (1-0-1, 1-0-1). Nikki Turner had 13 saves for Golden West (2-4-1, 1-1-1), which was outshot, 29-13.
In nonconference water polo:
Golden West 15, UC San Diego JV 5--Torrey Culvertson scored three goals and Jay Chapin, Carlos Fernandez and Chad Blanchard each scored two to lead host Golden West (8-2).
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
Saddleback 3, Taft 1--Jody Narey had 16 kills and Kelly Sullivan had 11 to lead host Saddleback (4-0) to a 10-5, 15-5, 15-3, 15-6 victory at home over Taft (3-2).
