Pasadena : Plans for Church Rejected
Plans for the construction of a 32,124-square-foot church in Northwest Pasadena, proposed by the Confirmed Word Faith Center, were turned down Tuesday by the Board of Directors on a 3-3 vote.
The church sought an amendment to the city’s General Plan, a zoning change and an exemption from the Growth Management Initiative to build a sanctuary and fellowship hall at the northwest corner of Orange Grove Boulevard and Cypress Avenue.
But Directors Rick Cole, Jess Hughston and Chris Holden voted against the center, citing the area’s need for affordable housing.
Directors Kathryn Nack, William Thomson and John Crowley voted for the project. Director William Paparian was absent.
