SHORT TAKES : Travis Show Spurs Movie Ideas

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Since riding the range with cowboy star Roy Rogers for an upcoming cable special, country music singer Randy Travis has decided he would like to do a Western movie.
“If I was going to do something like that, I would be the most comfortable in a Western,” Travis said recently. “Like the cattle drive, that was just a natural thing for me to do. Riding was no problem and I knew how to work cows; I’d done that before.”
The cattle drive Travis and Rogers took part in was for “Randy Travis--Happy Trails,” a special recorded for the Nashville Network cable TV service last summer in Montana.
The show airs Wednesday and also features country singers Holly Dunn and Michael Martin Murphy with veteran actor Denver Pyle.
Rogers is also a partner with Travis on his new album, “Heroes and Friends.”
