Maxwell Repays Chunk of Short-Term Debt: The communications corporation, a United Kingdom-based international media concern, said it has repaid $990 million of short-term debt and it expected to repay a another $415 million of short-term debt due yesterday. The company said the $990 million that it repaid represents short-term borrowings taken out last year to cover the acquisition of MacMillan Inc. and Dun & Bradstreet Corp.’s official airline guide.
