A 25-year-old Oxnard man was being held on $20,000 bail after a Santa Paula convenience store was robbed at knifepoint early Sunday.
The robbery occurred about 2:30 a.m. at the Stop N’ Go Market at 765 W. Harvard Blvd. after a man entered the store and quizzed the clerk about the market’s selection of sandwiches, store Manager Lal Silva said.
The man later pulled out a knife, grabbed the neck of clerk Leonard Rodrigo and demanded that he open the register, Silva said. The clerk gave the robber $55 from the register and another $20 from a safe and the man fled on foot.
Police officers and a police dog searched the area and found Daniel Thomas Bustos in the 400 block of Acacia Road, police dispatcher Barbara Hill said. Bustos was arrested on suspicion of robbery and was being held at the Ventura County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.--STEPHANIE STASSEL
