La Habra Defense Gets Its Act Together

LA HABRA — La Habra High School, which had given up 80 points in its previous two games, held Sonora to a field goal Friday and rolled to a 28-3 Freeway League victory in front of about 1,000 at La Habra High School.
La Habra (5-4, 1-3 in league) held Sonora (1-8, 0-4) to 74 yards, including six in the first half. The Highlanders forced five turnovers, two of which led to fourth-quarter touchdowns.
La Habra’s Jason Johnson ran for 141 yards, including 77 for a touchdown in the first quarter. Don Anderson rushed for 107 yards and scored touchdowns on runs of eight and two yards. The two-yard run came with 5:35 left and gave La Habra a 21-3 lead.
La Habra lost, 49-0, to Buena Park two weeks ago and 31-0 last week to Sunny Hills. The victory Friday was La Habra’s 11th in a row over Sonora.
