Restored ‘1900’ Gets NC-17: The original, uncut version of the Bernardo Bertolucci film “1900” starring Robert DeNiro and Gerard Depardieu has been restored and will be re-released in special engagements in 1991 with an NC-17 MPAA rating, Paramount Pictures announced Wednesday. The five-hour, 11-minute film tells the epic story of Olmo Dalco (Depardieu), a bastard born into a family of farm workers, and Alfredo Berlinghieri (DeNiro), heir to a wealthy family of landowners. It was first released in 1977 in a four-hour, R-rated version.
