San Marino : Incorporation Vote Delayed
The City Council has indefinitely delayed a final decision on whether to annex two unincorporated county areas.
Although city officials have prepared resolutions that could squelch controversial annexation efforts, negotiations continue between the city and representatives of the two neighborhoods around San Pasqual Street, north of San Marino.
At a council meeting dealing solely with the issue last Thursday, City Atty. Steven Dorsey said the city has tentatively concluded that it would be too costly to bring the county neighborhoods up to San Marino standards.
City officials say that if the areas were annexed, they would need some new curbs, gutters and street lights. At the meeting, residents of the areas said they would be willing to pay for improvements.
