U.S. senior golfers won five matches, lost two and tied one against Japan and won the $500,000 Du Pont Cup Seniors team golf tournament, 20-12, at Batoh, Japan.

Mike Hill shot the day’s best score and beat Japan’s Kesahiko Uchida, 68-72. Jim Dent beat Hisashi Suzumura, 72-77; Dave Hill defeated Shozo Miyamoto, 70-73; George Archer beat Tetsuhiro Ueda, 71-78, and Charles Coody edged Shigeru Uchida, 73-74.
