CHICAGO — The average physician in the United States earned $155,800 last year, an increase of 7.7% from the year before, the American Medical Assn. said today.
Inflation cut the actual increase to about 2.7%, the group said in its annual report on income statistics.
Twenty-five percent of all doctors in the country earned less than $85,000 during 1989, the group said, and 25% of all physicians in general practice, family practice or pediatrics made less than $63,000.
