Arcadia : City to Remove Graffiti

The City Council voted Tuesday to spend $20,000 to hire a contractor to remove graffiti from public and private buildings. The city staff estimated that there are 1,500 to 2,000 square feet of graffiti on private property, and said the amount could triple in a year.
The locations of graffiti noted in a city report were Colorado Boulevard between Michillinda and Santa Anita avenues; Live Oak Avenue between Holly and 4th avenues; 2nd Avenue between Colorado and Huntington Drive, and in Chicago Park.
The city had been requiring owners to clean up their own buildings, but the report said it took too long to go through the enforcement process. In the meantime, the report said, the graffiti encouraged more graffiti.
