Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Palmdale man Saturday morning who allegedly chased his ex-wife’s boyfriend into a back yard and shot him repeatedly, deputies said.
Richard Allen Dean, 34, was being held without bail on suspicion of murder at the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Station in Lancaster.
At about 6:30 a.m., deputies said, Dean burst into a house on East Avenue R-5 in Palmdale and confronted his ex-wife’s live-in boyfriend, who was not identified pending notification of relatives. Dean chased the man into the back yard and shot him repeatedly with a pistol, deputies said. The man was dead on arrival at Palmdale Hospital Medical Center.
It was not clear whether the woman was at home at the time of the shooting, Sgt. Bob Olmsted said.
Patrol deputies arrested Dean about three hours later at a McDonald’s restaurant on Palmdale Boulevard, deputies said.
