Santa Monica : Environmental Conference

In the spring, the city will co-sponsor a Westside environmental conference on how to deal with the problems of traffic, sewers and runoff through regional cooperation.

The City Council last week unanimously approved Councilman Dennis Zane’s proposal to play host to the conference and pay half of its cost, about $25,000.

Representatives of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Culver City, and Beverly Hills are expected to attend. The conference is planned for April, 1991, to coincide with celebration of Earth Day and an environmental film festival.

“I think it’s important that we do this,” said Santa Monica Mayor Judy Abdo. “We’ve taken the lead on all the environmental issues in the area.”
