LIGHTS OUT: Missing some outdoor Christmas light bulbs? Police say it’s probably the result of a tradition that has taken hold among some youngsters in the county, from La Habra to Newport. . . . “They use them like hand grenades,” said one officer. “They throw them in the street and like to hear them pop.” . . . Though “nothing like a crime wave,” bulb bashing is theft and vandalism. Are the cops cracking down? “Santa will punish them,” said one officer.
