COSTA MESA — FileNet Corp., a maker of document processing computers, said that strong international sales helped to more than double its earnings during 1991.
In a preliminary report, the Costa Mesa company said last week that it expects earnings of $8.1 million, or 75 cents a share, for 1991, compared to earnings of $3.8 million, or 37 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales are expected to hit $122.5 million, up 19% from $102.9 million in 1990.
Fourth-quarter earnings are expected to be $3.3 million, or 30 cents a share, contrasted with $841,000, or 8 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales are expected to be $37 million, up from $29.6 million in 1990.
Mark St. Clare, vice president of finance, said sales in Europe and the Middle East were strong during the latest quarter.
He said the company’s WorkFlo software, which allows a personal computer to store and retrieve images of documents, has spurred sales.
St. Clare said the company now employs 850, up 80 positions during the past year.
The company is looking for sales and support employees worldwide.
