Xavier McDaniel said he plans to exercise a $500,000 buyout option in his contract with the New York Knicks that will make him an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
McDaniel has two years remaining on a deal he signed with Seattle before being traded to New York. He is scheduled to make $1.8 million in each of the next two seasons.
