Mt. Carmel 75, San Dieguito 59--Mt. Carmel (9-5, 2-1) opened a 15-point lead in the second quarter by breaking San Dieguito’s press with good passing that led to easy baskets. Dan Kirby and Chris Goode each were credited with four assists for the game, most of which came in the second quarter. Mt. Carmel scored 10 of its 29 second-quarter points from the line on 10 of 14 shooting. Mt. Carmel’s Jason Salmons finished with 19 points, 12 coming after offensive rebounds. Teammate Derek Wessel also had 19 points, and Scott Schoenwald finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. San Dieguito fell to 8-7, 1-2.
Fallbrook 68, Orange Glen 38--Fallbrook (11-5, 1-2) had trouble stopping Brian Morsch, who finished with a game-high 23, but no one else for Orange Glen (2-11, 0-3) scored more than five points. Chris Miller led Fallbrook with 19.
Vista 70, Rancho Buena Vista 49--Vista jumped on RBV early, grabbing a 16-6 lead after the first quarter, and was never threatened. Guard Shane Jager led Vista (9-5, 3-0) with 26 points and Jason Barnes added 19. Center Evan Osmundson led RBV (7-9, 0-3) with 16 points.

Carlsbad 76, Escondido 48--Chad Nelson had 20 points and three three-pointers for fifth-ranked Carlsbad, which ran off to a 24-6 first quarter lead was never threatened. Kewan Shariff added 16 points and Toby Tollack had 10 for the Lancers (9-6, 3-0). Damian Cephas led Escondido (5-7, 0-3) with 21 points and Quoc Huynh added 12.
El Camino 66, Oceanside 43--El Camino led just 18-17 at halftime, but started the third quarter with a 17-0 run to blow Oceanside away. Sixth-ranked El Camino (9-5, 2-1) outscored Oceanside (4-9, 0-2) 30-9 in the quarter. Chris Dade had 12 of 18 points in the third quarter, Bryant Westbrook had seven of his 14 and Sky Harrison seven of his 12.
Rancho Bernardo 76, San Pasqual 44--Rancho Bernardo senior guard Bill McMahon almost single-handedly took apart San Pasqual--scoring 25 points on nine of 15 shooting, grabbing nine rebounds and getting six steals. Senior center Kirk Hipple added 14 points on six of seven shooting and 13 rebounds for Rancho Bernardo (10-4, 3-0). Ernie Silva had 16 points to lead San Pasqual (5-9, 2-1), which was outrebounded, 44-26.
Ramona 59, San Marcos 56--Ramona trailed 41-40 after the third quarter, but outscored San Marcos by eight points at the free throw in the fourth quarter. Ramona shot 11 of 21 free throws to San Marcos’ three of seven. Rusty Hoss led Ramona (5-6, 1-2) with 17 points and 12 rebounds, Cody Cunningham had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Jarrod Bess added 11 points and nine assists. Eric Olson led San Marcos (4-7, 1-2) with 18 points, Brian Baum had 17 and Horace Corey added 10.
Metro Conference
Sweetwater 48, Castle Park 47--Guillermo Sanchez’s three-pointer from the baseline with three seconds left gave Sweetwater (7-10, 4-0) the victory. Sanchez’ shot hit the front and back of the rim before falling. Castle Park (6-7, 2-2) had gone up 47-45 on two free throws by Wills Odom with 22 seconds left. Odom led Castle Park with 20 points. Brandon Tennant had 17 to lead Sweetwater.
Bonita Vista 71, Hilltop 65--In a rivalry between schools separated by a few-mile stretch of East H Street, Bonita Vista’s Gerald Rhoden came to the fore with 31 points and 12 rebounds in Hilltop’s gym. “Hilltop (1-12, 0-4) is really, really down this year, but they were really up for this game,” said Bonita Vista Coach Jim Conlin. “We were lucky to come away with a victory.” Bonita Vista improved to 7-8, 2-1.
Chula Vista 87, Mar Vista 67--Statistical leaders for Chula Vista (10-7, 3-1) included: Alberto Marzan, 12 rebounds; Lamar Bailey, eight assists; and Jerome Green, 32 points, including five three-pointers. For Mar Vista (5-7, 0-3), Ray Chariez finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
Southwest 50, Montgomery 36--Forward Tony Diaz led Southwest (7-7, 3-1) with 19 points. Montgomery fell to 4-10, 1-3.
