Doctor Tells Tired Yeltsin: Stay Home

Associated Press

After weeks of travel and nonstop work, Russian President Boris N. Yeltsin was ordered by his doctor to rest at home Saturday and cancel his meetings, a spokesman said.

“It’s not serious,” spokesman Pavel Voshchanov said. “ . . . He’s had a lot of meetings, done a lot of traveling. He didn’t even have one day off. Of course he’s tired.”

Yeltsin, 60, may return to work Monday, but he had to cancel a meeting set for Saturday in Moscow with International Olympic Committee President Juan Antonio Samaranch, Voshchanov said.
