The Queen’s Award for Technological Achievement used to be conferred upon British innovations in medicine and aerospace.
In 1991 it went to a beer can.
Guinness Ltd. placed a device in its Pub Draught cans to unleash nitrogen bubbles in a way that would give the brew the full head of a draft beer.
The awards panel apparently became intoxicated with the design.
