A black man suspected of killing a Korean-American store manager during a holdup in Los Angeles last week was in custody Tuesday, but police stressed that the crime was not racially motivated.
Andre Edmund, 20, was booked for murder for the shooting death last Wednesday of Koang Song, 31, said Detective Dan Andrews of the Police Department’s Wilshire Station. Song, wounded during a holdup attempt about 8:30 p.m. at Rick’s Fish Market, died later at a hospital, Andrews said. The suspect shot Song once in the chest before fleeing empty-handed, Andrews said.
