Bumble Bee to Lay Off 120: Bumble Bee Seafoods Inc. said it will lay off about 120 workers at its Santa Fe Springs tuna canning facility. The workers will lose their jobs March 27 because a new tuna loining process being used at the plant has not lived up to expectations, said Michael McCulley, executive vice president of operations for Bumble Bee Seafoods. Production has been more expensive than hoped under the new process, which remains in research and development stages, he said. The layoffs are needed to reduce the plant’s operating costs, he said.
