A 25-year-old Campo man died Saturday morning when he lost control of his car on Old Highway 80, 3 miles east of Tierra Del Sol Road.

Frederick Timothy Castello, 25, was driving east when he crossed the center line at 8:40 a.m. and crashed into the embankment on the northern side of the highway, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said. Castello was ejected after his car overturned several times.

Castello was resuscitated by Lifeflight medical personnel but died at 10:40 a.m. while in surgery at UCSD Medical Center, said Daniel Matticks, a medical examiner investigator.
