Reporting Allegations

The Jan. 30 edition of The Times ran a story about the arrest of my nephew, together with a detailed account of certain allegations made against him. This resulted in my nephew receiving a severe beating from some fellow detainees in the downtown County Jail, after which they waved the Times story in his face. He was taken to the hospital for examination.
As a longtime subscriber to The Times, I am deeply offended by this kind of reporting. It fans the flames in people who are violence-prone and who delight in unproven allegations to justify their own uncivilized behavior.
