COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Pound Arizona for Second Time in Row

Nate Rodriquez had five hits, and and Phil Nevin and Frank Herman homered as visiting Cal State Fullerton routed Arizona, 16-5, in a nonconference baseball game Saturday.
The Titans (7-3) scored 53 runs and had 61 hits in winning two of the three games from the Wildcats (10-7). Fullerton won, 22-6, Friday.
Jason Bates, a junior from Cypress College, had three hits including a double and two RBIs for Arizona.
In other nonconference baseball:
UC Irvine 5, UCLA 2--David Bladow pitched a seven-hitter, striking out 12 and walking one for his fourth victory in as many starts, and Matt Filson scored the tie-breaking run on Pete Janicki’s seventh-inning wild pitch as the Anteaters improved to 7-3.
Matt Filson and Corey Parker hit homers for Irvine. Jon Damush drove in the Anteaters’ other runs with a fifth-inning single and a seventh-inning groundout.
UCLA (8-3) scored in the fifth on Matt Schwenke’s two-run single.
Janicki (1-2), an El Dorado High graduate, went the distance, allowing six hits, while walking four and striking out eight for the Bruins.
In Pacific 10 Conference wrestling:
Arizona State 25, Cal State Fullerton 16--The Titans (6-12-1, 2-6) got victories from Donnie Kiernan (150), Laszlo Molnar (167), Chris Abrego (177) and Chris Bluth (190) in a loss to the Sun Devils (2-8, 1-0) at Titan Gym.
In nonconference softball:
Southern California College 5, San Francisco State 4--Scherlynn Gordon drove in the tying run and scored the winning run on an error to lead visiting Vanguards (5-0).
Gordon also had three hits. Pitcher Shannon Saylor won her third consecutive game. San Francisco State is 0-3.
