THE SPHINX OF CITY HALL
On a recent flight from Los Angeles to Dallas, I recognized a fellow passenger as Mayor Bradley. After an hour layover, we were in line to board a smaller plane to an East Texas town. Also in line was a partially disabled elderly woman.
Although there were other men in line, when we were instructed to proceed down two flights of stairs to a bus, it was our “gentleman” mayor who picked up and carried the woman’s luggage as I helped her down the stair.
She will probably never know that her luggage handler is the mayor of Los Angeles. How true the statement in the article, “No errand . . . is too small for the mayor to personally handle.”
