A 25-year-old North Hollywood man was arrested on suspicion of murder Monday after police found a woman stabbed to death in her apartment, authorities said.
The body of Martina Linda Minnie, 46, was found shortly after 2 a.m. in her Whitsett Avenue apartment, Sgt. John Stilo said.
Douglas Edward Rock, who lived in the same building, was being held without bail in connection with her death, Stilo said.
Neighbors called police early Monday after they reportedly heard Minnie screaming and saw a man escaping through her kitchen window, Stilo said. Officers found the woman, who had been stabbed several times, lying nude in the hallway of her apartment.
After speaking with neighbors, police arrested Rock in his apartment, Stilo said. A kitchen knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was found in the trash bin of a nearby building.
Investigators have not determined if Minnie was sexually assaulted, Stilo said.
