OUTLOOK
Century, which opened in 1988, finally has a senior class. The Centurions finished fifth in the league last season with a lineup of juniors and sophomores. Reimers, a first-team all-league selection, has already drawn attention from college scouts. He led the team in hitting with a .349 average and 22 hits and was 5-6 with a 3.96 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 51 innings. Chamberlain was a second-team all-league pick in right field, while Cortez (1-2 with a 2.97 ERA) and Garcia (.279 average) were honorable-mention selections. Construction of the school’s baseball field has been slowed because of bad weather and a delay at the start of construction, but Hayes hopes it will be ready by the start of league play in late March. Until then, they’ll play on a smaller campus field they have been using for the last few years.
