NORTHRIDGE : Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting Pole

A 19-year-old motorcyclist crashed into a power pole and died Wednesday after losing control while trying to pass a car near Roscoe and Balboa boulevards in Northridge, Los Angeles police said.
Cesar Centeno of Van Nuys died at Northridge Hospital Medical Center minutes after the 1 p.m. accident, Sgt. Jay Taylor said.
Centeno was traveling east on Roscoe when he tried to pass a car on the right and swerved suddenly, hitting the curb and then crashing into a pole, Taylor said. “His helmet was strapped to the side of his motorcycle,” Taylor said.
