NORTHRIDGE : Review Sought of Nude Club Ruling
- Share via
The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday requested the city attorney to review a judge’s decision that allows nude dancing at a Northridge nightclub.
The Extasy club reopened Tuesday after Superior Court Judge Ronald M. Sohigian refused to extend an order that banned nude dancing as a violation of city zoning ordinances, which had been in effect while the dispute awaits trial.
But Councilman Hal Bernson, who represents Northridge, maintains that the club “blatantly violated” zoning laws and should be closed, said Ali Sar, a Bernson aide.
Bernson introduced the emergency motion requesting the city attorney to review the ruling, “pursue any appropriate legal action, and move the case to trial as expeditiously as possible.” Such action could include an appeal of Sohigian’s decision, Sar said.
Bernson also wrote to the Los Angeles Police Commission asking it to revoke the entertainment permit that it “erroneously issued” to club owners, Sar said.
