Seeking clues into the death of a woman found dead in a Mission Valley field, San Diego police released her photograph Friday.
Maria Bianca Cortes, 23, was found strangled and stabbed in a barren field near Mission Valley Road on Wednesday morning, her 2-year-old daughter sitting atop her bloodied body, police said.
Police released Cortes’ photo Friday afternoon, hoping to encourage anyone who may have seen her in her final hours to come forward, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Cortes was last seen in Linda Vista about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after leaving the home of a friend, Robinson said.
Police are asking anyone who may have spotted Cortes in Linda Vista or in East San Diego on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning to call the Crimestoppers hot line at 235-TIPS.
