SANTEE : Motorcycle Crash Kills Mechanic

A 45-year-old San Diego motorcycle repairman was killed Saturday night when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a center divider, the San Diego County coroner’s office said.

Joseph Francis Smith was driving west in the 7700 block of Mission Gorge Road when he lost control of the cycle and swerved into the center divider and a stop sign at 9:40 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Life Flight attendants tried to resuscitate Smith at the scene, officials said. Smith, of the 5100 block of Voltaire Street, was pronounced dead at 10:10 p.m., authorities said.
