Pop Album Chart : Brooks Keep His Brand on No. 1 Spot

Garth Brooks’ “Ropin’ the Wind,” which has ruled the Billboard magazine pop album chart for 17 weeks, shows no sign of slipping. It has no serious challengers at the moment since the rest of the Top Five is made up of older albums that aren’t likely to mount any major sales surge. The post-Grammy attention that boosted Natalie Cole’s “Unforgettable” back into the Top Five seems to have settled down and slipped a notch to No. 3. Vanessa Williams’ “The Comfort Zone” moved up three more notches to No. 26.
* These Santa Barbara rockers continue their charge toward the Top 10 with this fast-selling record that’s not a full album but an EP. It climbed four more notches to No. 16.
