Jump Start for Mideast Peace Talks

I quite agree with Spiegel that only a grand gesture can jump-start peace talks in the Mideast. But why ask only the Arabs to make that grand gesture? In addition to his proposal that the Arabs recognize Israel’s right to exist and/or end the Arab boycott of Israel, Israel could agree to freeze settlement activity on the West Bank and Gaza and affirm U.N. Resolution 242, the land-for-peace formula.
