Dana G. Mead, 56, a paper industry executive and former Nixon Administration adviser, Monday was named second in command at Tenneco Inc.
Mead, an executive vice president at International Paper Co., will begin working at Tenneco as its chief operating officer in two weeks, Tenneco said. In May, Mead will assume the additional job of president, when incumbent Michael H. Walsh becomes chairman and chief executive.
Mead will oversee the day-to-day activities at all of Tenneco’s operating companies. Walsh, who succeeded ousted Chairman James L. Ketelsen last fall, will deal with policy issues and the company’s board of directors.
Tenneco has interests in natural gas pipelines, automotive equipment, shipbuilding, farm and construction equipment and packaging.
