Advanced Photonix Buys Photo Sensor Operations

Advanced Photonix Inc., a Camarillo maker of photodetector devices that convert light into electronic signals, said it signed a definitive agreement to acquire all the assets of Applied Solar Energy Corp.’s advanced optoelectronic photo sensor operations for $1.55 million.
The seller is a unit of Westar Capital, which is purchasing all of Applied Solar Energy from American Cyanamid Co., a biotechnology and chemical concern based in Wayne, N.J.
Advanced Photonix said the acquisition of the advanced optoelectronic division, which also makes photodetectors, would broaden its product line.
