Magnet Programs’ Deadline Is Friday
Students who wish to attend any of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s magnet programs have until the end of the week to apply.
The district boasts more than 100 magnet programs, which include all grade levels and focus on subject areas from math and science to law and government. The district’s only new programs, both with an emphasis on medical careers, are scheduled to start this fall in the San Fernando Valley--at James Madison Junior High School in North Hollywood and Van Nuys High School.
Applications in English and Spanish are available from every school in the district and will be accepted through Friday. Acceptance is based on space, district ethnic integration requirements and other factors.
Parents will be notified in June of students’ acceptance or placement on a waiting list.
