Duke has a chance to achieve what Nevada Las Vegas was unable to do last season--go the entire season as the No. 1-ranked team and defend its national championship.
The Blue Devils were ranked No. 1 in the preseason and stayed there through the final regular-season poll.
Last season, defending champion UNLV was ranked No. 1 all the way but lost to Duke in the NCAA semifinals.
The last team to be ranked No. 1 from start to finish and win the NCAA championship was Indiana in 1976. The ’76 Hooisers also were the last team to go unbeaten.
