ELECTING COMFORT: The homeless might not often vote, but they’ve found an effective way to make use of the voting booth. The county’s Homeless Issues Task Force has set up temporary shelters at area churches directed at single people or couples out of a job but looking for work. For privacy, officials have found that heavy-cardboard voting booths left over from past elections make great partitions. . . . “You use what works,” says task force staffer Patti Arledge.
