Nation IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : Prosecution Rests Case in Gotti Trial

Federal prosecutors wrapped up their racketeering and murder case against John Gotti by playing audio tapes of the reputed mob boss. Gotti, 51, is accused of masterminding five murders, including that of Gambino crime family boss Paul Castellano in 1985 in Manhattan. On recordings secretly made just after Gotti was elevated to boss, he discussed how the gang’s money would be divided. He sounded angry when he spoke of how Castellano kept the lion’s share of money being made.
